Produced by neutralizing ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) with high-purity sodium hydroxide under controlled conditions to form the disodium salt dihydrate. The resulting crystalline product is purified, dried, and tested for heavy metal content and chelating capacity to meet analytical and pharmaceutical-grade specifications (e.g., USP, BP, or EP standards). A white to nearly white crystalline solid, freely soluble in water, forming a clear, colorless solution. It acts as a strong complexing agent for divalent and trivalent metal ions such as Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Fe³⁺, and Cu²⁺.
